No momento mais crítico da pandemia da doença do novo coronavírus (Covid-19) no Brasil, a Comissão Guarani Yvyrupa, organização autônoma do povo Guarani no sul e sudeste do país, mobiliza suas bases e apoiadores para uma campanha de doações. Os recursos serão destinados à compra de cestas básicas, equipamentos de proteção individual e materiais de limpeza para o combate ao coronavírus no território guarani.

Passado mais de um ano desde o início da pandemia, nossas comunidades enfrentam dificuldades para garantir o sustento das famílias e a segurança do necessário isolamento social.

Com os hospitais lotados e o sistema de saúde em colapso, muitas de nossas atividades nas aldeias como os mutirões de plantio tiveram de ser interrompidas. As visitas turísticas, a venda de artesanato e outros trabalhos fora da aldeia também se tornaram impossíveis.

Em diversas aldeias de nosso povo temos casos de contaminação. Precisamos garantir a estrutura adequada e a alimentação para que as pessoas possam se recuperar isoladas dos demais.

É hora de fortalecermos a solidariedade entre nosso povo Guarani e os apoiadores que sempre estiveram conosco. Pedimos doações que serão destinadas à compra de equipamentos de proteção individual (EPI) tais como máscaras e álcool gel, produtos de limpeza e de higiene pessoal, além de cestas básicas de alimentação.

YVYRUPA AGAINST COVID

Facing the most critical moment since the beginning of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Brazil, Comissão Guarani Yvyrupa, an autonomous indigenous organization that represents the Guarani people currently living in the Southern and Southeastern regions of the country, claims support to build its Emergency Response Fund with the help of national and international partners.

Passed one year since the pandemic has reached our people, our communities now struggle even harder to assure familiar sustenance and to manage social distance measures.

With packed hospitals reflecting the worst collapse of the brazilian public health system, we have had to interrupt many of our daily and collective activities in order to curb the spread of COVID-19 locally. This whole insecurity has made it impossible to keep on with our planting and harvesting joint efforts, as well as the touristic activities in our territories, the trade of our traditional art and crafts and many other works that used to take place out of our villages.

But coronavirus continues to spread, and many of our villages host Guarani people who are currently infected by the disease. Providing food, hygiene material, and local infrastructure that allows infected people to recover while remaining apart from the others is the best way to fight the virus among our communities. And you can help us to ensure that.

It is time for us to strengthen solidarity bonds between our Guarani people and the supporters that have always been by our side. The whole amount of the donations Comissão Guarani Yvyrupa receives towards this campaign will be used to buy hygiene and protection material, such as masks and alcohol-based sanitizers, and food.
